i got a new dragonfly kamloops mc reel and a tfo signature series 6wt fly rod 4 peice
They look pretty nice but havent tried them
Do you guys no anything about them
Someone told me that 4 peice rods lose some of their action as a two piece has a nicer feel when casting. I just got the 4 peice so i can carry it easyer because alot of the places i go dont have roads to get to them.
It seems alright to wiggle around in my yard but havent realy tried it yet.
What do you guys think?

Re: 4 peice fly rods
The signature series rods are ok. They cast great, but don't have the pretty hardware and are not as light as the higher priced rods out there. So they are functional!
About the loss of "feel" with the four piece rod, that is false. The technology used to build rods is so good that the difference is negligable at best.

Re: 4 peice fly rods
I agree with Aaron. There is really no difference between a 2 or a 4 piece rod today. Most of my rods are 4 piece rods, with the exception of one of my 6 wts. which I won at a TU event and one of my 5 wts. They are both 2 piece rods. Oh, I also have an old 3 piece 5 wt. around here somewhere. Like I said, I can't feel a difference between casting 2 piece rods vs. 4 piece rods.

You are gonna like it fly fisher. At 14 I didn't even have a fly rod. And one good thing about the tFO is if you break it you can get it replaced for 25 bucks. Do you have a 6 wt line to match with it?

Re: 4 peice fly rods
I've found little if any difference in casting between 2 pc and 4 pc fly rods. The 4 piece is usually slightly heavier but this is very very minor. I can't tell having casted both 2 and 4 pc versions of the same GLX fly rod.
The only difference are problems that are unique to ferrules. One is that each and every ferrule creates a stress point in the blank; and under stress the fly rod has more potential breaking points which usually happens just above a ferrule. Another difference is that ferrules can loosen and a 4 piece rod has 3 potential places the rod can loosen and a 2 piece rod only has one. A loose ferrule is one reason for a rod to break. finally a ferrule can seize and you have 3 places in a 4 pc rod rather than just one in a 2 pc rod.
