Re: Please Help My Tying Technique
Id like to suggest a book it is by Dick Talleur it is called the versatile fly tyer . If you want to understand how and why things are done this book will give you a great start and help you fix "all or if not most of your tying problems". It got me started and Ive been tying for about ten years now .I still refer to it often .
Re: Please Help My Tying Technique
I think one of the best books for someone beginning to tie, or re-aquainting himself with the vise, is The Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying. It has an interesting and useful construction that allows you to flip to tutorials for different techniques without having to change the page on the fly. The techniques are well explained and it covers a lot of ground. I'm sure many accomplished tyers here will vouch for its usefulness and it is widely available.
Re: Please Help My Tying Technique
That is by far the best beginner to intermediate book I've ever seen, wish it existed when I taught myself to tie 25 years ago. Good list of patterns they show also, not just the same 'ol, same 'ol- it's a mix of proven standard patterns and a selection of some of the better new ones. It has that great split page format that Trout5 mentioned, allowing you to view the pattern and recipe up top while flipping the bottom half of the page to look up unfamiliar techniques.
