Glo Bugs, tying with yarn, and Troutbeads

Wow! At that speed, my globugs always look lopsided, and boy does that synthetic yarn eat up the blades on my scissors. I always used the method with three strands of yarn on top of the hook, lashed down in the center. I lift the two ends and make one cut. Maybe there is a better way? Even so...I just bought some trout beads, 6, 8mm in the caramel roe color, I couldn't resist (but I've never used them before).

I'm not really sure, however, how to rig the beads for Pulaski, since bare hooks are not allowed. Otherwise, I think sliding the bead on your leader and using a toothpick stopper is acceptable, with a bare hook 1-2 inches away.

I personally have not fished a lot of glo bugs. However, saying that, nothing beats Troutbeads from Troutbeads.com. Period. End of discussion. Nothing comes as close to matching the real eggs. They are deadly during the spawn and late Oct-December you will find me nymphing with one on my rig. Fished them last Saturday and nailed 16 fish, 12 on eggs. I just bought some Trout Beads in three colors (caramel roe, natural roe, chartreuse) and two sizes (6 and 8mm). I also bought a little 6 compartment storage box. I bought direct from the company and they were friendly and efficient.

Do you rig them above a bare hook with a toothpick stopper? Please explain. Thanks.

I do both. I have actually taken them and placed them on a Tiemco 101 and tied them with mono. Tie them with white thread and white zelon for milking. I also use a toothpick stopper.

Guys, sorry if I stupidly divulged anything about the ultra-effectiveness of Trout Beads. I thank you for your responses, but in my zest for follow up questions, I hope I didn't give anything away. I'm glad you moved this thread here.

So, I placed my order on Wednesday and received a nice little box via priority mail on Friday. I couldn't wait to try them out, so I went straight to the Farmington this morning, at the braids well above Church Pool (Halfords down). I only caught two, but I am sure you guys would have hammered a dozen in the two hours I was there. The good fish I caught was a 15in male. The river is defintely post-spawn; I carefully looked around quietly and saw no spawning or staging fish. I still need to gain experience fishing with an indicator, and I'm hoping for a longer nymph rod this winter. I talked to Grady for a bit, he said that Thursday he caught two nice females, but they were completely spawned out.

Hey Alain... don't sell yourself short. You know what you are doing! If the fishing is good you will get them. It was most likely that they were off the bite. Its ok... it happens sometimes ???. Nextime you will tear into them ;D I would venture to say that he does not know what a spawned out trout looks like ;). I floated a good portion of the Housy today and saw no redds being dug. I would venture to say that at the Farmington the spawn just started happpening in the last few days. I hope this helps. Try the dirty roe painted with pink nail polish... it's a killler ::)

Just got 'em today.

Orange, pearl orange, natural roe, dirty roe, and carmel roe. The carmel roe looks fuckin awesome - with the slight darker discoloration in a few of them, they look so real.

I cant wait to give them a test run.

Do yourself a favor and order these colors..........seriousely. Glo roe, salmon pink, cream, orange, mottled glo roe, mottled orange. It is a must ;)
