You guys are lucky out there in Central PA to have the ideal conditions to grow fish! We have a bunch if runts here in Jersey! It's funny that even the smallest linestoners out you way have great growth rates...
limestone and freestone growth rates can vary greatly due to the streamflows which are variable for freestoners and fairly steady for limestoners. if you have a dry spring/summer resulting in low water, those fingerlings won't gain more than an inch. conversely if you have good rainfall, they could reach maybe 3.5-4" but even thats pushing it. stream size is also a factor: a major river offers far more cover/food than a mountain trickle. much more competition as well in smaller waters which also affects growth rates. i do know that limestoners with brookies, fish up to 14-15" is possible. comparatively brook trout rarely reach 9" in most freestone streams even in the most remote, underfished streams.
