Anyone use the Rite bobbin out there? I saw Kelly Galloup using it in his DVD, so I just bought the ceramic model. Coupled with the Gudebrod GX2 thread, it seems to be the ultimate way to keep thread tension during spinning deer hair. The bobbin has a tension adjustment knob that really works and is well-designed. Just a head's up for you folks tying spun deer hair streamers or bass bugs.

Alain, you read my mind! I was just going to ask about that bobbin! I'm using an old renzetti that I bought years ago, and I was just thinking of looking into the Rite Bobbin after seeing it on a Youtube clip of Kelly tying. The design looks really interesting, comfortable, and really high tech (I love angles!). Thanks a lot for the report, I'll be ordering one soon.

Re: Rite bobbins
I've been eyeing them up for a while now. I like to put a slight curve in my bobbins for personal comfort and I don't know if I would with the rite bobbin let me know how you like it tension wise.

Re: Rite bobbins
I'm not sure the ceramic tube in mine would allow bending. The bobbins are expensive, so I wouldn't risk it. The adjustable tension works well; a simple click of the brass disk changes the tension. The bobbins come with 4 small teflon washers, so the thread comes off the spool very smoothly. I highly recommend this product for streamers and bigger stuff. For smaller flies, I still use my traditional Renzetti/Matarelli/Griffin/S&M bobbins. I think that any bobbin benefits from the ceramic tube.

Re: Rite bobbins
It's a nice home for my GX2 thread and has a great feel to hand. I set the tension once and haven't touched it. The white extension ceramic tip is a perfect contrast with the darker streamer materials. It's definitely worth having for streamers.
