After a spectacular season of dry dropper fishing, I can say that its fading fast. As the water temperatures drop and insect activity lessons nymphing is becoming the go to technique. The trout as not as freely rising and as the fish change so do the tactics needed to catch them. I caught some of these fish using dry dropper, but the big one took a woven caddis fished Euro style. Can't argue with the technique's effectiveness when there is a large kyped male brown trout lying in your net :)
I did see some olives hatching both days and when the olives were hatching a small bwo nymph produced very well. When they weren't hatching a cranefly and woven larva were the ticket...
