Fishing a Sage Flight 7 weight 10 ft
I recently purchased a Sage Flight 7 weight 10 foot rod and a Sage Reel for fishing big species of fish, Smallmouths, Largemouths, Steelhead, Salmon and Muskies. I went after some smallies yesterday and had a great time! The water was very high and cold but the fish are in super feeding mode right not, they are fat and stocking up for winter. I caught almost 20 smallies and alot of them were this size. I used to use a different brand of fly rod. I am more than pleased I purchased this rod. Nice bass!
I took a look at the site. What nice brook trout and the sizes are quite impressive. I knew that there were good populations of wild brown trout in those streams. I didn't know that there were so many brook trout.

Well thank you. It means alot. It takes quite some effort today to find good, stable, quality Brook Trout waters. Fortunately, I have a few places to catch them. Some of them are quite a hike just to get to, but well worth it. This is going to seem like a lie but there is a stretch where I caught upwards of 80 fish in 5 hours. I never saw such natural reproduction and health in a stream like that one. Anyway thanks for viewing!

Was fishing Chinook and Coho Salmon with my Grey's 10ft 7wt over the weekend after yet another Scott rod of mine was put to rest on the river leaving me running for the spare in the car. All I can say is "NOT RECOMENDED". What a butt kicking I got. Was into my backing a scary amount of times and after I caught up with them I could'nt turn them. I will say that it should have been a commercial for Grey's. It handled over 20 of the monsters and asked for more. Watched Dooberhoopa's 8wt literally explode into 4 seperate peices on a fish. Steelhead are cool on a 7wt but Salmon require a bit more...at least around here. 9/10wt bats are optimal.

I did and it looks like you will again too. Not that it's not out of realms it's just a butt kicking trying to turn them out of the current with the lighter stick. Hit me back with your opinion after you wack a few on the 7. I'll be on the Salmon R. the rest of the week. I'll make shure to take some pics with the Grey's.

I surely will. And thanks, I'm sure I will need a heavier whip sooner or later. I really hope I get to drill a big Musky on it later this year or next year. I would love to see some photos for sure.

Just bought a brand new Sage 5wt VT2 , got it for half off cause they're no longer making that line of rod. Still ,from what you guys have said, I don't think I'd chance bringin it Salmon fishin. If they were snappin 7wts, i'm sure the 5wt would get demolished, right?
