killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
Well after a couple of hundred reel screaming runs by the brown and rainbow trout of the bighorn the metal clip that makes the drag noise broke on my reel. Luckily I have two reels so I swapped out the part. I don't fault Lamson for this but I wonder if I can order replacement part. I fished for a day without the drag making a sound and I found it very difficult because I adjust the drag frequently . It is difficult for me to adjust the drag without listening to the sound the reel makes when the fish runs
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
Call Lamson up and they should be able to send you a new part. I am sure that it's quite common. My clicker broke and now I just have a clickerless reel!
When I used to have a bunch of Lamson reels they were very easy to deal with.
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
Either of you guys ever had the sprocket on the inside that comes in contact with the clicker piece come unscrewed??? I had it happen to my Litespeed while fighting a couple rather large fish on the Taylor a few weeks ago and the rest of my reel spun off into the water!!! Not good. I was thinking about putting some thread locker on there and screwing it back on real tight. Would this hurt the reel? Is this a common occurrence?
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
It's 2010!!! Why are you guys still using click drags???
The thread locker should be absolutely fine. It's a plastic that cures in the absense of oxygen. Simmilar to wrapping your reel seat threads with Teflon tape to keep the locking rings in place,it just snugs up the gap between the the thread pitches. You can still back the screws out with little effort if need be. It's not like epoxy or anything like that.
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
The click is not the drag but it is a mechanism similar to the old click only drag reels. The sound the click makes tells me how fast my line is going out and the resistance that the drag is set at when a fish is running. I can then manually adjust the resistance of the drag by turning the drag dial
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
I have a reel set up the same way with one of the clicker tabs busted. It clicks bringing in line but silent on the way out. Bugs me too much to bother with using it.
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
I was just looking at my Konic.......... I'm a big dummy. Disregaurd the the click drag statement ;D
Re: killed the click mechanism on my v2 hard alloy
Call Lamon. They have a great customer service dept. I broke the same part off my Litespeed. All you need is an allen wrench to remove and replace. They had a replacement part out to me that day, no questions asked.
