This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
Aaron, you didn't at least make a few casts in the river below the dam at Estes Park? 'Fished there once many years ago and it was loaded with nice rainbows.
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
I knew you guys would really dig RMNP. Really awesome place, lots of scenery and lots of cool looking animals. It's not all about the fishing out here in the West, there is a TON of stuff to do outdoors around here, although Colorado does have it's fair share of fine pieces of water (both private and public :(). I'm glad you got a chance to find some bighorn sheep, those things are amazing looking up close. Since you were in the park you should have poked around for some Greenback Cutthroats! ::) Oh well.
Catchm, I fished the Big Thompson below the dam in Estes Park a few weeks ago. Great little piece of water, and chock full of fish. I had a cow elk come up to me about 10 feet away when I was fishing on the river, she wanted to know what I was using ;). I wish I had my camera, it was a sight to see! The elk in Estes Park are pretty much like cattle; they aren't the least timid about human encounters.

Looks like it is possible to Aaron to do something other than fly fishing...
I've been out that way, was a few years ago on a camping trip it is beautiful.
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
Hey... I did go to a stream on the way back! I think that I am going to take a "day off" tomorrow...
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
Mann we're touchy tonight. I knew you would drop a line. I always do during a family vacation, you just have to find that fine line.
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
No I am kidding... I told her that there was no way that I wasn't going to go a full day without fishing in Colorado. You should have seen the eye roll that I got. It was priceless. Almost as good as the attitude that I got when I fished there till dark!
Re: This Scenery Might Have Montana Beat ;)
I don't blame her, I'm not siding with her, but sounds like you were on the other side of the fine line. Be careful, at least she lets you fish. There are a few things in life I just can't do without. What women can give you, flyfishing and beer. My wife has fairly liberal limits also but I also have to know when to say no or deal with a mad wife. Look at the bright side, at least she dosen't have you golfing...
