Fly Fishing guides Portland, OR area?
I will be heading to Portland, OR for the first time to visit my son and want to sneak in some flyfishing. Can you please provide me with contact info of a knowledgeable & trustworthy guide in that area. I am not an expert by an means. I'm not even sure what type of fish I want to go after. We will be in Portland from Aug. 31 to Sept 7, 2010. Open for suggestion. Thanks in advance
Re: Fly Fishing guides Portland, OR area?
Hey Bowtech... I was there last fall and visited a local shop (Northwest FlyFishing Outfitters) http://www.flyshopnw.com/. It is owned by a couple who could not be nicer. They were very informative on equipment and very willing to share information. I ended up buying some equipment while there. Real nice shop. My plans were to hook up with them next time I visit the area.
I also work with someone who went to Portland for spey casting lessons....He said what he learned on the trip helped him cast much better when he went to Argentina the following spring (high wind). I can find out from him the name but it may take me a few days .

I did see that shop when I was doing some research, thanks. I am having my son go into to talk to them. Thanks again and if you get the other info please post.

He went with this shop based on their reputation for spey casting techniques. Said it was excellent.
