Spring and Fishing Creek June 10 thru 13 Report
Drove to State College on the 10th. The little rain S.C. received gave some color to Spring, but it was easily fish-able. A couple of hours on Spring got me a few small natives late in the afternoon. Air temperatures the whole weekend were in the 80's.
(The boys at TCO and Fly Fisher's Paradise said Penn's was in bad shape due to low conditions and warm water, so I passed it by entirely.)
All day Friday on Fishing. 4 trout on 3 different flies: tan caddis, red zebra, BH Prince. Water temp was around 56. All kinds of flies in, on and above: suphurs still, slate drakes, black caddis, midges, brown & black caddis, stones.... All the hatches are running together because of the high temperatures and general lack of rain.
Saturday exploring and photography on F.C., but very little fishing, mostly socializing with friends. Drove to Bald Eagle State Park to check out the campgrounds.
Sunday, a couple of morning hours on Spring and then drove back to the 'Burgh.
Nice long weekend, but central Pa. needs rain....
Re: Spring and Fishing Creek June 10 thru 13 Report
I was looking at the radar the Sunday afternoon and it appeared that all of the storms were forming just east of the State College area. Fishing Creek can be a real tough stream in low clear conditions, heck it can be tough when conditions are good. That stream is a food factory for sure. How was SC? Lots of weeds?
Re: Spring and Fishing Creek June 10 thru 13 Report
Spring was clear on Friday and cold still with mid 50's temps. Surprisingly not a lot of weeds, at least in the sections I fished. Fish were skittish on all the streams.
I'm going back up in a week or two depending on the temperatures. The long hot summer is here for good....

It's going to be hot just in time for the weekend too :(
