Re: New Caddis Pupa Patterns
Thanks,
I have seen that pattern before, thanks for the link.
Re: New Caddis Pupa Patterns
For the last three weeks caddis pupa patterns have been my best producing flies. Size 18 in tan and dark green, scud hook, dubbed abdomen, ribbed, soft hackle, hackle antenea, peacock ice dub head. Dead drift in deep runs and pockets
Re: New Caddis Pupa Patterns
That would be one fantastic looking pattern when wet! I simply use a copper bead, dark brown thread and Antron dubbing. I brush the Antron put and clip it to the length of the hook shank. Torrey makes his even simpler than that.
Re: New Caddis Pupa Patterns
If l had spent the time to tie that one its going in a display box.
It is a nice tie no doubt.
My preference for a CP is one that exhibits a great deal of translucency, l have used solid bodied pupa in the past, many years ago to be honest and never found them as effective as those with trans bodies, which is one reason why l developed the SLF Trans pupa.
La Fontains sparkle pupa are also very good.

Re: New Caddis Pupa Patterns
Just googled your pattern Davy, very nice looking fly. So is the one above, but it just looks like too many steps. Too many steps means I get annoyed trying to tie them so I don't.
