First time salt water fishing
I caught a shark today on my first time salt water fishing. We were fishing of the coast of Kiawah Island, South Carolina. We were anchored on top of an artificial reef in about 45-50 feet of water. Except for the 3 foot American sharp nosed shark it was incredibly boring. Put some squid on the hook, open the bail of the spinning rod and let it drop 40 feet. It reminded me of bobber fishing with a worm from my childhood. The guide cost $375 for about 4 hours (I didn't pay for it) and the largest fish the four of of caught besides the shark was about 1 foot long. It made me appreciate fly fishing even more as this was the first time I used anything but a fly rod in about 20 years. Anyways that's my saltwater report; probably my last without a fly rod.
Peace,
John
