After Christmas and New Years is over I have a crazy tying time that I look forward to. Please allow me to explain. You see in those cold long winter Saturday nights, I look forward to sitting down at my vise about 10:30 PM and tye all through the night into about 6:00 AM on Sunday morning. I put the radio on, grab a cold Samuel Adams and just tye. This type of tying is nothing but tye one of this and one of that and perhaps a Slmon Fly thrown in the mix. For some reason I get very creative and strive for perfection. I don't know why this happens, but I do know that I enjoy it a bunch and look forward to it. Then it's off to bed and awake to pancakes, bacon & eggs and of course some coffee. My wife laughs at me and does not care because she feels I earned it for all that I had to do around the house and Holidays. Any of you guys experience this?

Re: Winter Tying
Sort of. I am not the overnight type but definitely after the kids are in bed, I am in the basement with the radio on and will put a few hours into it. I converted an old oak entertainment center into a fly tying cabinet. For about 20 bucks I was able to install a pull out shelf and on it is my vise, tools, etc. When done I can close the cabinet and am everything is at least out of sight of my boys.
But you are absolutely right...a solid beverage is needed as well. Typically a cold beer or a nice glass of bourbon....but only one glass or the flies will suffer.
