JMC fly rods

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with JMC fly rods. The have two different series that interest me. The Triumph series has the following models:
10' 2/3
10' 3/4
10' 4/5
11' 3/4

The Elite Series has the following:
10' 4/5
11' 2/3
11'6" 3/4

Any fished handled/fished/know anything about these rods. I found them on a euro website. Google translate doesn't translate the rod descriptions. Seems like the Triumph may be slightly softer than the Elite. The Triumph is also slightly cheaper. With the current exchange rate, they might be slightly overpriced for the US buyer. I know they're designed for competition nymphing, but I'm thinking of maybe using an 11' er for traditional wets. Any info would be appreciated.

I never heard of those before you mentioned them. Another company that you might want to look into is Vision. They make the same types of niche rods. If you are looking into a wet fly rod that is in the same price range as the Elite rods, the Hardy Marksman Drifter is the rod to look at. I have thought about ordering some of those rods from the EU websites, but knowing me I will break it and shipping the rods back and forth for repair will cost as much as a new rod. I am sure those rods are top notch but they might not be a good alternative to what we have here due to that lack of American distributors. Just some food for though.

Now that I consider it, I think you're right about buying from the EU in terms of shipping/repair, etc. I checked out the Vision website on your recommendation, and the Cult rods really piqued my interest. I know they're an established company and will probably be around for a while.

I've got a JMC Elite 7' #4 for very little rivers. Very comfortable to use.

It's a famous french angler's company (JMC= Jean Marc Chignard).

I spoke to Jamie at Rajeff Sports today, he said that the Echo Shadow PE Rods should be in stores in March.
Available in 10'6" 3wt. and 11' 4wt. They maybe worth the wait.

Did they take out the 10 foot three weight? I thought that was going to be one of the rod configurations?

the 3100 is still going to be produced with the others...Jamie just weighed the last "and final" prototype before sending it to me...and said it weighed 94 grams...that is pretty good for a 10 foot rod...

I'm glad they are shooting for early March to be available in the stores....

p.s. the problem that I have found with buying European rods on line is the duty tax...also if you send it back and forth over the pond to get it repaired after a break, the duty tax still gets added on to each shipping again and again...EVEN IF you bought the rod years earlier! the Portuguese guys that I know, say they just throw away an American rod if it gets broken, because the duty tax to get it shipped back after the repair in the states will be more than the original price of the rod sometimes...

I had an older catalog, didn't mention the 10' 3wt. and there is no mention of the series on their website at all.
I don't know what I'm talkin' about, thought I did, but I got nothin'.
He did say that they are shooting for March.

I looked in the catalog and you are right . The ten foot three weight is not listed??
