What was your best fish of 2009
As the 2009 fishing season is nearing its end, I thought it would be interesting if we gave some thought about what was the best fish you caught this year.
For me it was this Yellowstone cutthroat.

Not sure if it was my best fish but the one that comes to mind is the 20" tiger trout I got on the housie labor day weekend. Sorry no pic.
Buy the way that is one sweet looking fish

i caught some rainbows that were bigger than this one, but this is probably my best fish of the season definitely best brown and most memorable... taken on an x-caddis in western ny.

FLYDAD,
Bob landed the big fish on that day of the trip! That was a very big Cutthroat.

I haven't caught my best fish yet but so far its a tossup between these 2.

BTW, I caught the Golden Rainbow twice ;D
Re: What was your best fish of 2009
That's a beautiful picture of the golden. Did he take the Lopat-latex caddis?
Cluster, nice brown. A wild fish?, by the looks of that caudal fin.
FlyDad, I'm sure a tiger trout that size you'll remember even without a picture.

That"s nice Kierran. I love fishing at the cape. If I were to guess, Pleasant Bay. Beautiful clean water, beach and one healthy looking fish on a fly rod. Awesome!. Your picture makes me long to get up there too.
I know this picture doesn't belong here but this is my son Mike 3 weeks ago at the Cape hooked up with a 75 inch Bluefin tuna.

Taken off just off of our lake cottage dock.

I also had a musky on for just a second with a 5 wt rod. I was casting a small fly for blue gills. Hooked one and a musky came out from under our dock and grabbed the bluegill sideways in its mouth. Then the bluegill and my fly were gone in a few seconds. I doubt the musky even know I was pulling back on my 5X leader.

I would not say that this fish is the largest one, but it's the one that brings a fun memory back every time that I think about it.
Bob and I were on the Ruby River. There were a group of browns "selectively" feeding on PMDs. We had caught la good amount of fish by this time. I asled Bob to pull out a fly that would not work. He pulled out this horrid thing and said try it! Well two casts later it got hammered. As you can see by the fly in the jaw of the fish, that presentation trumped fly pattern on that particular evening.
Silver,
Very nice bass for the fly rod!
