South Branch of the Raritan 5/21/2007
went to the river after work today. the river is getting quite low. however you can see tons of trout. there is no shortage of fish in that stream. i did well today. i wouldn't say it was out of control but the fishing was good. there was decent caddis activity as soon as i got there. as it got closer to dark i saw more sulphers. these are the larger size 14 invarias. the coolest part of the day was when i was fishing in the last spot and i could actually see the trout sliding up into the riffle to take up feeding lies and shortly after taking my offerenings quite frequently. ;D fish were caught on sulpher type nymphs, olive caddis larvae and wd40 nymphs. get out there the fishing is good. also there were quite a few people out fishing but i dont think the fish minded. they were quite cooperative.

yeah bill... i agree there are a ton of browns this year. more than most years. maybe they have stocked last year. i hope that they have figured that they hold over better than the brookies and the bows!!! things look better for the summer and fall though... i can't wait!! ;D
we should have some awesome holdover rates at this rate... amen!!!
