Woohoo! Got a steal of a deal on a brand new Dyna King Barracuda Jr. Trekker on eBay the other night. Retails for $230, got it for $140 new. I love eBay.... Ready to take the plunge and get tying, I'm thinking about a few patterns to get started with. RS-2 was first choice, nice and easy, second would be a caddis pattern, and I'm looking for a third...

Re: New Vise!
If you are just starting out as tier, the RS2 is probably not the best choice. A properly tied RS2 is not that easy. Start by tying wooly worms and buggers.

Re: New Vise!
A wooly bugger wan I was the first fly that I ever tied. Then I moved on to pheseant tails and hare's ears.

You will absolutly love that vise, guarenteed! Great deal
start tying up some foam beatles and some dubbing ants. Easy and they'll catch you fish. Also try some plain and simple olive caddis nymph patterns with a bead head.

Re: New Vise!
Thanks for the advise guys, I'm not a complete newb when to comes to tying, I took a class to tie the basic patterns my last semester at school. I've successfully tied wooly buggers, hair's ears, standard dryfly duns, parachute dries, some streamers, etc.

Re: New Vise!
Penn State has Fly Fishing classes that are accredited! Now that is my kind of college class if only they had a class for drinking too much and sleeping.
