My good buddy Chris aka Rubberlips has been on a tear of late to get me to go for some carp. I finally "gave in" and went over to the $hit Hole as we named it! Well, I lied, it didn't take much convincing! I caught one within 10 mins of being there. I was hooked. It's like playing a video game. You wantch them feeding, cast your fly over towards them, out of curiosity they come and eat it... from there "it's on!" A major battle ensues. These things fight like crazy and they eagerly take a WELL PRESENTED fly. They are quite large for the most part and during the heat of the summer you can't beat it!
If you have any ponds or streams near you and need a quick fly rod fix in this summer's heat give these fish a try. You will not be disapointed, frustrated maybe, but disappointed not in the least!
The pictures from today are great. That big one is real good. Wish I could have made it today instead of yesterday! Looks like you had a good time!

If you think a wise old Browns trout can be the devil to catch, then you will find Carp can be way worse once they have become educated.
They are a fun fish to catch, the downside for this invasive species is they compete against other species.
There is nothing a Carp will not eat, dead or alive.
Here in Arkansas the arrow is the favoured way to fish for Carp.
Pity there are not a good table fish all be it many do eat them. The monks in the UK used to raise them for food many years ago in Carp ponds and l have seen them in fish stores in other countries.

I have a close friend from the Ukraine and her family eats carp. Not ones from the waters around here but some people do eat them.

Well i tried my luck for carp! Got two in the 45 mins spent there, was very hot! Going back after dinner, I prosmised The Predator 4 or 5..Ill have pics later on, my photo taking device died But I did manage one photo before it died...Its crazy how hard these fish fight, I wrestled the one for bit, I was under gunned only using 3wt with 5 x tippet. Was very supprised how much stress i could put on the line.
