Ultrathon Insect Repellent by 3M
Montana is mosquito paradise. I never saw more or larger biting insects. We also endured hordes of chiggers, deer and horse flies. If you are not averse to using DEET, this product may be for you. It is 34.34% DEET and available in a cream lotion, like a sunscreen. The benefit of this lotion is that it provides an honest 12 hours of protection and is splash and sweat resistant! I used it on the top of my hands and neck mostly. Even when my hands were wet from the frequent splashing of water, the mosquitoes kept away. If you are worried about the DEET smell getting on your flies or rig, simply apply the cream with a paper towel. This is truly a great product, if you don't mind the risks associated with DEET. It is costly at $9 for 2oz., but worth the cost. Give it a try.

Alan be careful with deet around your waders. Deet can eat away at them.

That stuff works! I tried to be tough and go without it but I ended up giving up after getting bit so much that it was making me crazy!

You can't beat DEET for repelling insects, I used to hunt a swampy area in northern ohio and I swear the skeeters there were as big as craneflies. With the DEET, I heard them but never felt them.

The only problem with deet is that it is not fishing line freindly it will eat the coating right off of fly line so be carefull when applying it.

Thank you to Bob "Magnet" for buying and sharing this fine product with Aaron and I. It was a lifesaver in Montana. My family even commented that it "didn't look like I got bit." Thanks Bob - you're the best.
