Headed out to the Catskills with Chris and Jordan at 4:30 in the morning yesterday. I love being first to the river. When we got to the river there were a ton of fish rising but I'm not sure to what and it was short lived anyway. We got right to nymphing and started catching fish right away. The fishing was oustanding until about 11:30 then it slowed down a bit. After a fishless 1/2 hour we decided we should start hitting the shady spots and the water with the really broken surface, thinking that they were keeping out of the sun. As soon as we started doing that we were right back into them. It was a great day of catching tons of wild fish and followed up by some General Tso's chicken. What more could you want.

Awsome native brookie. About 12-13 inches. I tried to get a picture holding him for some scale but for whatever reason trying to hold a big brookie for a picture seems to be impossible.
Awesome time, as always.
Still pissed that I didn't get a 20 incher outa that place yet. Oh well, it will come. One of us has to get one sooner or later!
Fun times out there. Despite only three fish, leaky waders, and falling into that same pool three times (stupid teeter-totter rock!) it was a fun time with you guys!

Did you check water temperatures? Not bad for mid-July, right?

The water temps are insane for this time of year.
We stopped by the Ramapo on the way home just to check it out. There were still plenty of rising trout in there. Normally the trout are all dead in that river by now. The water at the Ramapo was still under 70. Can't believe the kind of year we're having.
The place we went in the Catskills is below 60 in the mornings still! I've been told that the place we're talking about will stay at about 65-70 even in the summer months.

Great photos! Good to see the Catskills are doing better this year. Usually by now, it's way too warm.
