KLG for an hour and a half
I finally got my waders wet at the gorge this year. Lots guys out on the water and with the large hatch going on most of them were fishing the pools with dries. Only one problem, the fish weren't rising. After watching some of these guys not catching anything I decided to instead hit the choppy water with a 2 fly shortline rig (#14 BHPT superflash and #10 BHPT) and managed to bring 5 fish to net, one rainbow and 4 browns. One fish I am ashamed to say I caught by accident. My flies were at the end of the drift when I turned and looked upstream for my buddy. All of sudden I felt a tug on my rod and lo and behold a 13 inch brown managed to hook himself on the anchor. Dumb luck, but I'll take it.

I've always said "It's better to be lucky than to be good."
Re: KLG for an hour and a half
I believe you have to make your own luck....that's why you purposely left your line in the water expecting a fish. By the way were any of those browns wild ones?
Re: KLG for an hour and a half
Np: the corollary to that phrase is "Luck is the residue of preparation.". This is definitely true in fly fishing.
Re: KLG for an hour and a half
2 of them were, the other 2 I am not sure. The bow was definately not.
