I feel like it is time to make a general statement about the site, and all the folks that work hard to bring it to you. We have received a lot of email requests and outright demands lately, so I am hoping to recalibrate everyone's expectations.
In the past few months, Aaron and Justin decided to generate a (very) small revenue stream from the site. One hundred percent of the money they collect gets re-invested in the site. The initial capital raised went directly towards web-site hosting fees and the purchase of a high-quality high-definition (HD) video camera. The HD camera was immediately put to use in the various videos, both on the pay portion and free portion of the site.
Future revenue will continue to go towards hosting fees and general web-site upkeep. We will also purchase improved audio equipment (such as wireless microphones) and better video editing software.
Future revenue will also go towards content development, for example, paying fly-fishing luminaries such as Davy Wotton for exclusive TPO content, such as fly-tying. We are also working on lots of content pertaining to reading the water, technique, fly-tying and so on. There is an excellent DVD in the works, and I can tell you these content is incredible.
You may be under the impression the primary content developers (AaronJasper, JUICE, NymphMeister, Davyfly, alanb_ct) are paid to develop content. We are not. We develop and post content to further our love of the sport, to teach others, to communicate with our friends, and to show off our catches once in a while.
I can tell you this. For every detailed post about techniques or locations you see, there are many hours of editing and phone conversation involved. We try to parse the best material for you. Our main job and responsibility to you is to be out in the field (river) practicing what we do, refining our techniques, and reporting it to you; that is all that matters.
