Re: sharkskin ,vrs reg gpx
I have the first generation SA Sharkskin in 5wt and 3wt, these are labeled Trout Taper lines.
They are excellent lines, great pickup and nice casting. Some FF do not like the noise which is apparent when the line is dry (in the fly shop parking lot) however, when the line gets wet the noise is not so apparent.
If the Sharkskin lasts 3x-4x longer than conventional premium lines, as advertized, it will be a bargain line.

Re: sharkskin ,vrs reg gpx
Ive heard from some people ,that in the larger sizes because you might stripe more that it will burn your fingers . As for the trout lines though you dont stripe in as much ,i do want a line that doesnt let the tip sink that drives me crazy .I know arron uses the gpx ,but i dont know if it is the mastery series or the shark skin ,if the mastery series is cool then i would just go with that but the guys at the shop i go to say the shark skin is the shnizzle .I just got my tfo 10' of wets and nymphing ,and maybe chezch nymphing . So i want an all around line i will be fishing some dries with this as well so im just trying to do some reseach before i go and by what i want.
Re: sharkskin ,vrs reg gpx
I can't comment on the sharks skin but I use the mastery gpx on my 5wt and I like it very much. I'm not even a good caster by any means and I can throw tons of line with my TFO 9'6'' pro. Its also loads at very close range probally do to the fact the front of the line is a half size heavier.
Re: sharkskin ,vrs reg gpx
thanks blacklabel ,
I think im going to try out the sharkskin ,if i dont like it ill just bring it back and have the guys at the shop tell the rep i didnt like it ,Im sure it is going to be awesome line though .Im really into being able to mend line when nymphing ,line control is everything .Id really like to try both out to see what the differences are .From what i hear the shark skin floats like no other ,but that remains to be seen.
