I got hung up in a tree one day last year, and when I pulled downn the branch that had ate my fly, this one was also attached to the branch. Anybody have any knowledge of what this thing is or any history on it?

Never quite seen one like that, but it is a very interesting combination of colors and materials. If I get a clue, I'll let you know. Where did you get it from?

I snagedd a tree, and when I pulled the branch down, this fly was also attached to the branch. I stuck it in my fly box, and never thought much of it until last week when I was cleaning out my boxes. I'm thinking it may be a local pattern for a March Brown. I tied up a half dozen tonight, and since I love fishing SHs during the MBs, I'll give them a try.
Dah! I should have seen how you got it in your first post, At any rate, I do not recognize it as a standard soft-hackled pattern. I'd say you are right on the money about it being a local tie. With the orange thorax, I'm not sure what it imitates, but if you think it'll work for a March Brown, I say go for it. I'd be interested to know how it works-out for you.

I will certainly keep the board posted on it if it works or if I find out any info on it. I'm going to be visiting the nearest fly shops over the next few days and I'll see if I can track down any info on it. :)
that is definetly a march brown imitation ,with the orange .There is a series of partridge wet flys i will try to find them and get a name for you

i did som investigating ,if you type in flymph ,this pattern doesnt come up at all ,alot of different ,wet flys come up though .The tutorial from lauren is the only one ,he had to get it from somewhere ,so it looked like a certain wet fly we use for steelhead called a spade which was "ithink designed by alec jackson " alec likes them for inland fishing because it helps keep the profile of the fly larger .which is what would happen with that fly . this can be tied with a peacock dubbing lump which i would think would work great any where .!
