St Croix Rods

Is anyone familar with their fly rods. A freind of mine, new to fly fishing, is looking for a medium price range rod. The Avid and Imperial series I saw at Somerset looked pretty nice. I also understand they have a life time warranty.

One of my first rods was a St. Croix. I think that the price tag is good for someone just starting out.
I would recommend a Temple Fork Outfitter rod before a St. Croix. The price and performance are great.

Both the avid and imperial are nice rods and will do the job for a begginer. They are versitile and will give your friend options as to fishing streamers, dries, nymphs, and wets. May I also suggest Echo or TFO. Echo is a great rod for the money, dependable, versitile, and built to last, the same goes for TFO. If he decides on Echo either the Echo classic or the Echo 2 will be great rods, if you decide on the TFO the professional, or the signature, would be ideal. That's my 2 cents, hope it was helpful.

Can't beat Temple Fork. You can look back at the posts here and for the most part any time someone brings up rods someone brings up Temple Fork. I love TFO their rods are awsome I think they preform well and I like the black guide wraps and carbon fiber reel seat look. Plus you can get the pro series for around $150 up to 9' 6'' and the 10' for around $200 and the warranty what more do you want.
