"Charlie Craven's Basic Fly Tying" Book Review
This is an excellent book for the beginner/intermediate fly tier, but I suspect any tier would get something from it. The author's photography is the best available (he also photographed John Barr's book). If you have ever visited "Charlie's Fly Box" on-line, you already know the quality and attention to detail Charlie provides. This book is based on his successful fly tying classes and goes through a couple dozen patterns, while isolating elements of each for teaching. He has detailed discussions of proportions and lots of tricks from a production tying perspective.
This book makes an excellent gift for any fly fisherman.
