euro casting to the left upstream quadrant
When casting long line Euro style to the upstream left side, I find it best for me as a right hander to cross my body with the rod as the drift comes down stream and as I pull back the line I swing the rod around the back of me like a lasso to redeploy the fly from the right side. I guess its kind of common sense and for some and not even something you have to think about, but for me it enables me to drop the fly in the same direction as the original cast to the left. Just something I worked out and thought I'd mention.
Re: euro casting to the left upstream quadrant
Good observation as you need to have the opposite angle to be able to place the cast properly. How have you been doing with the technique? Catching many lately?
Re: euro casting to the left upstream quadrant
I haven't had a lot of success lately. I'm trying to observe the flows and various conditions and to read subtle variations on the river. I try to get out once a week and I'm trying to train myself to observe, analyze and adjust. So I guess my answer to your question Aaron is, "not good but good". :)
