Thanks so much for the recommendations. I am using scud back, but I am having a tough time keeping it from sliding to one side or the other before I add my ribbing. Any recommendations how to stretch scud backing on and maintaining it to the top and center?
Thanks again for your advise.

Re: Scud Backing.
Don't pull it too tight. Next, when you rib it, only apply pressure to the ribbing directly up or down, not while you are making the entire wrap.

Re: Scud Backing.
In addition to pulling the rib only up or down vertically, simply hold the scud back in place on the center axis of the fly as you rib. If it slides a bit, just reposition it.

Re: Scud Backing.
Have you tried the Magic Shrimp Foil Product? I doesn't slide around like Scud Back and it has a shiny side and dull side. It comes in two widths and a pearl version that makes a great looking scud/czech nymph.
