This is nothing unusual for some of the trout systems in EU. I have seen mayfly hatches myself like this many times in the past.
I would suspect that this is the Ephemera danica, the largest mayfly species found in the EU. There are two other species very simliar, they are very isolated the specific systems.
If you think the emergence is something you should see a spinner fall and watch the fish gorge on those guys, and then try to catch them, good luck !!
