2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
Re: 2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
We need to get in the top 3 dammit!
Re: 2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
You're on your way to making that happen. Hope to (and expect to) see your name on that list in 2009. It was really interesting studying your rig and flies today.

Someone want to splain me what all this means
Re: 2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
I would venture to say the fish total is what it is.
The length is in millimeters I think.
The score I can't tell you much about though.
And on a funny note.. it all means they did better than us >:(

And how does this work
Re: 2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
Interesting results here, have not as yet studied each days totals for individual points, but l would hazard a guess at this. All be it l am not sure how they sectioned the river beats. Fishing the lakes is a different deal, all have the same advantage.
You stick the Czech boys in first position fishing a river section and they will very likely fish it out and attain max points for that section, they may well also do same for other sections they fish after others. they are that good, focused beyond belief.
They had 4 guys in the top 20, that says it all.
They have a very strict team regime and work together, which is one of the most important issues for a team to win, aside from the fact they have great skills as individuals, the French are not that far behind either. And they very quickly asses how to fish new water.
There was a time way back that the English team were invincible, all be it l see my old friend John Horsey did real well in this event. I have no idea why Wales did so poorly, other than they did not have anglers of good skill. I need to have a word with my friend Moc Morgan about that one, he is the Welsh TM.

In metric lingo ,a 500 milimeter fish would be about 20 inches, wouldn't it? What types of trout were they catching?
Re: 2008 World Fly Fishing Championships
Magnet.
Both Brown and Rainbow trout were introduced to NZ. The fishery there at one time produced monster fish, as with many systems to day human pressure has reduced overall fish sizes.
I had friends there that regularly caught 10lb plus fish in the hay-days, they eat them.
The USA is one of the few countries to day that still uses Imperial measurement. Yes, app 25 mm are to I ins. 10 per centimetre.
It is way easier to work in units of 10. USA currency was based on the Spanish currency historically.
The old English currency was in units of 12, hence l dozen. Or 244 pennies to one English pound. I was in my teens when the UK changed to metric scales of weight, measurement, liquid and coinage, it still confuses me as l still refer to the old Imperial way.
