I went for a hike along Six Penny Creek in the French Creek State park. Managed by the PFBC as a Class A Wild trout stream. I fooled quite a few small wild trout (1 brown and 3 brook) all found in deeper riffle and tiny water falls all on size 18 and smaller beadheads including a Rainbow Warrior. At its largest width, I think it may have been 10' across (the stream that is). Beautiful scenery, nice walk, nothing spectacular, but what a challenge. Lots of roses and green brier. In the end, I finally landed in my first brookie of the year. :)

I told Justin the other day that I want to hit as many streams as I can in PA this season. I am going to not fish all the ones I have already in lieu of some of the lesser known ones. From reading your reports I am going to be pleasantly surprised! How were the 4th graders today?

Re: Six Penny Creek
I am not pretending to know the best trout streams in PA, but honing my skills on the smaller wild trout streams, finding areas I have never fished before, be alone a quiet, and fool a few of the most beautiful fish on God's creation. And have to admit, I am having a blast. After the "first day" in the lower 18 counties of PA I may keep a few "stockies" to put on our grill, but for the most part I am just trying to learn how the natives live and feed. I have been on all public lands within an hour drive. Not to be a purist, just trying to learn and relax. And I am glad that I found this forum to contribute and learn from all of your wisdom.
